Card-Handling Techniques

Throughout all card magic, you will find that there are certain basic card- handling techniques which are essential to your ability to perform tricks.

These include shuffling and dealing. These techniques will not necessarily appear in each card trick, but there are very few tricks that do not require at least a shuffle.

You probably already know one, but you will find that there are several kinds of shuffles. Most of them serve some special purpose, such as controlling the position of a card. Together, they give you the opportunity to introduce variety into your card handling

Similarly, there are different techniques for dealing. The success of a trick frequently depends on your skillful accomplishment of this manipulation.

Therefore, you are urged to practice all of the Card Manipulations until you can do each one smoothly, confidently, and without hesitation.

Remember, the mere appearance of skill and confidence in your handling of cards will add much to your audience's respect for your ability as a magician.
